If Strike Ends, It Will Take Hours to Restore Full Service
|
by KYW’s Mike Dunn
As the SEPTA strike drags on, the transit agency is reminding riders that if and when there's a settlement, it would take many hours to get back to full service.
SEPTA spokesperson Jeri Williams says whenever the strike comes to an end; don't expect to find the buses, subways and trolleys running immediately. She anticipates that even a few hours after a deal, they'd only be able to offer limited service because they'd need to make sure conditions are safe:
"Once there is an agreement and a settlement -- and we don't know when that's going to happen -- our primary focus will be getting our services running again, but making sure that safety, security and efficiency are all dealt with."
That means, for example, making sure they don't allow hundreds on a subway platform fighting to get on a few cars.
