24-Hour Food Bank in SW Phila. Runs Through Sunday

by KYW’s Karin Phillips

A community activist in Southwest Philadelphia is holding a 24 hour food drive, starting at noon on Saturday, to collect items for holiday food baskets for the needy.

Paul "Earthquake" Moore, a longtime community activist in Southwest Philadelphia, will stand in an open truck through noon Sunday, collecting canned goods, non-perishable items and monetary donations to collect food for needy families for the holidays.

He says he's willing to stay out all night because things are getting more and more desperate for low income families in the area:

“I see people actually eating out of cans, saying they have to feed their family. I see these things on a consistent basis.”

The collection takes place at the McDonalds at 2851 Grays Ferry Avenue through noon Sunday. If you can help, call Paul Moore at 215-385-2696.
