The Academy of Natural Sciences and other organizations are joining to hold the city's first sustainability film festival next Sunday.
The first annual Sustainability Film Festival is next Sunday, November 15th, between 3:30 and 7:30pm at the Academy of Natural Sciences. So just what is a sustainable film?
Roland Wall, director of the Center for Environmental Policy at the Academy, says the films at the festival will be short films about people and projects focusing on sustainability, which is, working to maintain the environment for future generations. A number of the projects center on local food and local food production:
“What we know is that food that is produced locally, and produced organically and produced sustainably is healthier, uses less energy, it requires fewer chemicals and therefore that sort of food production is an important part of helping make a more sustainable world.”
