Opening statements are set for Thursday in the trial of the man accused of murdering a Philadelphia police officer, after jury selection was completed on Monday afternoon, nearly a week after it began (see previous story).
Authorities say John Lewis, now 23, was robbing a Dunkin Donuts in West Oak Lane two years ago when he was interruped by officer Chuck Cassidy (related story).
Police say Lewis shot Cassidy, a 25-year veteran of the force, in the head. Lewis also made incriminating statements to police and the press when he was captured in Florida (related story).
Lewis could face the death penalty if convicted.
