Bucks County has begun vaccinating schoolchildren in an effort to protect them from getting the H1N1 ("swine") flu virus.
The first mass vaccination clinic was held Tuesday at Truman High School in Bristol, Pa.
Thousands of kids -- most of them holding a parent's hand -- rolled up their sleeves, clinched their teeth, and got a shot in the arm.
It was very orderly: they walked into the gymnasium, parental consent forms were checked, and then they went to one of several health care professionals giving the shots.
Amanda Shire is a junior at Conwell-Egan High School:
“I’ve got a younger brother and sister and mom (and) some elderly grandparents. I don’t want me getting sick, being exposed in school, and bringing it home to them.”
Students in all thirteen school districts are being vaccinated over the next two weeks. State health department officials say that most of the swine flu cases in Pennsylvania are being seen in schoolchildren.
