A CBS-3 /CW Philly meteorologist and animal activist is now the author of a children’s book, drawing attention to the adoption of shelter dogs.
Not a Used Dog, at All is a children's book written by Carol Erickson and illustrated by her CBS3 colleague Jeff McCloskey. Readers can follow a boy named Matt who wants a brand new dog and reluctantly meets a shelter dog named Wiggles who ends up becoming a part of his family.
Erickson says it teaches kids how their voice does matter.:
"They'll understand why that little extra ride to the shelter is far more important. They make a difference in the world. These children with this one dog that they adopt, they are starting to send the message that it is ok to adopt these dogs. The dogs that are in these shelters, they need love they want to give love."
Profits will go to local animal shelters and rescue groups.
