When it comes to preparing the holiday meal, a turkey is often the main dish. But is this a strictly American phenomenon?
For another point of view, we went to the man recently named the top chef in France. Guy Savoy has been honored by the French government as that country's top chef, and he operates award-winning restaurants in both Paris and Las Vegas.
Savoy (above) is on record as saying that while he enjoys a turkey meal, he has misgivings about how it is typically prepared in the United States. He says that the turkey can be part of a delicious meal, but it's the preparation that counts:
"I love turkey, but not roasted. I love turkey cooked in the bullion with all vegetables. And after you take a little bit of bullion, you reduce it and you put in truffle juice and a little bit of vinegar. You then put this juice on the turkey and on the vegetables."
That's turkey, French style, prepared by chef Guy Savoy.
