Wildwood, New Jersey is trying to make it easier to walk the 1,800 feet from the boardwalk to the ocean.
Six football fields is quite a hike so wooden walks are being placed on the sand to help beachgoers with the first 900-feet.
Wildwood redevelopment director Lou Ferrara says all of the walks should be in place by July Fourth:
“Unlike most beaches in New Jersey, we have plenty of sand. There’s about 1,800 feet of sand from the boardwalk to the water, and a lot of people have difficulty getting to the water with their coolers and their chairs and their children.”
The wooden walkways are made from pressure-treated pine and the program is funded by an $80,000 grant from Cape May County.
