A Philadelphia landmark at 35th and Chestnut Streets has been sold.
The folks at West Philadelphia's famous Divine Tracy Hotel are packing it up:
"Well, the hotel has been on the market and it has been sold."
Hotel co-manager Miss Addie Spalding says the Divine Tracy hotel was purchased by followers of Father and Mother Divine in 1949:
"As a non-profit hotel serving the community and renting to the public, anyone that would abide by our rules of no smoking, no drinking, no undue mixing of the sexes and a modest code of dress."
She says the Tracy and its sister hotel, The Lorraine, were groundbreakers:
"Divine Lorraine was dedicated prior to the Tracy and that was the first hotel that they broke the racial barriers. It was the first interracial hotel."
A sale of the hotel furniture is being held through Monday.
