The controversy over SEPTA’s decision to wrap two of its buses with malt liquor ads has prompted an unusual offer from a US congressman (see related story).
“They’re advertising it, and I just think its ridiculous.”
US Congressman Bob Brady says its ridiculous that SEPTA would accept gigantic bus wraps ads for Colt 45 malt liquor, even as Philadelphia neighborhoods are plagued by Stop-N-Go shops that sell the product.
So Brady has fired off a letter to the SEPTA board, offering to find a better advertiser if they unwrap the buses:
“Unwrap the two buses, and I will help find other advertisers. I’m sure there are other people out there who would love to advertise on a bus.”
SEPTA says it must look to boost ad revenue, including from alcohol producers, and the ads will stay.
