PM Disaster Drill Scheduled Around Ben Franklin Parkway

by KYW's Lynne Adkins

There will be a mock disaster on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Monday night, but it's just a drill for the City of Philadelphia.

There'll be lights, sirens, ambulances, and fire officials scrambling to respond to a 9-1-1 call. Philadelphia City Managing Director Loree Jones won't say what the disaster is, so no one has the chance to rehearse. She stresses this is just a drill, to make sure the city is ready to handle any crisis:

"This is the first time that we're exercising a coordination between the city ambulances and non-municipal ambulances. It's the first time we're doing this on the Parkway and the first drill at night."

There will be road closures around the Parkway and Eakins Oval, the drill takes place between 7pm and 10pm.
