Like father, like son. A Temple University orthopedic surgeon thinks laughter is part of the best medicine.
Jokes come naturally to Dr. John Kelly:
"My father was a comedian. He was a very colorful guy back in Delaware who did a lot of shows and TV work and stand-up routines and I want to be like my Dad."
Dr. Kelly does stand -up routines himself, not with scalpel in hand, but he believes a little levity goes a long way with patients:
“You're allowed to laugh, you know, uniformly when someone brings their spouse in I say, ‘Is this your oldest daughter? She looks good since her braces are off.’ Little things like that break the ice."
Take two jokes and call Dr. Kelly in the morning.
