Robin Culverwell

Robin Culverwell has been an editor, reporter and anchor for KYW Newsradio for more than ten years, bringing a wealth of newsgathering experience and an international background.

Culverwell grew up in Washington, DC.  She went to college in Wisconsin and at  American University in Washington, DC.  She spent a semester abroad living with a family in Rennes, France and graduated with a double-major degree in broadcast journalism and French, and a minor in women's studies.

Starting as a "go-fer" at ABC News, Culverwell has also worked at WMAL Radio in Washington -- where she organized a station promotion on behalf of the Boys' and Girls' Clubs which drew 10,000 participants --  at WGMD in Rehoboth Beach, Del., and at AP Radio.

While at ABC, she worked on the network's groundbreaking programming dealing with the aftermath of nuclear war, "The Day After."  It was during those broadcasts that Culverwell met and worked with former President Jimmy Carter, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and other dignitaries.

Robin has also worked at the Voice of America, where she wrote "Americana" features for broadcast to western Europe.

One of her most memorable news stories, she says, was her coverage of the midair explosion of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, made more poignant for her because a neighbor was aboard the plane that was destroyed.

Culverwell and her husband Ed live in Delaware with their son, two cats, one dog, and two fish.  Robin is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and enjoys sewing, gardening, bike riding and rubber-stamp art.
