Governor Rendell (file photo above) chuckles at the idea that someone might tap him as a vice presidential candidate.
Rendell says he not running for anything else, but after an appearance on his energy initiative Wednesday, reporters suggested, maybe he'll be number two on a ticket. Rendell says no on two counts:
"Would you like an independent truth-teller like me on your ticket as vice president?"
Besides, he says the statehouse is where the action is:
"Domestic policy is now decided in Harrisburg and Sacramento and Springfield and not in Washington any more so I'd rather lead the state of Pennsylvania for the nest three-and-a half years than do any of that."
As to a Cabinet job, Rendell says after he's done as Governor, if something interesting comes along, who knows.
