When Driving in the Fog, Penndot Says Be Careful

by KYW's Lynne Adkins

It's now autumn and Penndot officials are warning drivers to be ready to travel on foggy mornings.

The nights are cool and the days are warm, perfect conditions for fog in fall according to Alison Wenger, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. She says when its' foggy, don't tailgate, reduce speed and shed some light on the roadway:

"The number one thing that we recommend for motorists is to turn on their headlights and use your low beams, high beams get too glarey."

She says last year more than 960 accidents were blamed on foggy conditions, 13 of those crashes were fatalities.
